Kareena Kapoor expresses sorrow on social media.
The news of Val Kilmer’s passing has sent shockwaves throughout the entertainment industry and beyond. Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor Khan was among those affected by the loss. Hours after Kilmer’s death was reported on social media Wednesday, she took to her Instagram stories, posting a heartfelt tribute featuring a photo of the acclaimed actor, accompanied simply by a red heart and a rainbow emoji.
Tributes flowed in from various well-known figures in Hollywood. Filmmaker Michael Mann shared his reflections with The Hollywood Reporter, stating, “While working with Val on *Heat*, I always marveled at the range, the brilliant variability within the powerful current of Val’s possessing and expressing character. After so many years of Val battling disease and maintaining his spirit, this is tremendously sad news.”
Another emotional message came from actor Josh Brolin, who took to Instagram to express his fond memories of Kilmer. “There’s not a lot left of those. I hope to see you up there in the heavens when I eventually get there. Until then, amazing memories, lovely thoughts. #valkilmer #marktwain,” he wrote, sharing his sadness over the loss.
Kilmer carved out a significant place in Hollywood, capturing the spotlight as one of the leading men during the 1990s. However, his career faced challenges due to conflicts with directors and co-stars, leading to a series of underperforming films. Over time, Kilmer became known for his intense personality and pursuit of perfection, which sometimes overshadowed his talents.
His film career began with a bang in the spy parody “Top Secret!” (1984) and continued with the comedy “Real Genius” (1985). He achieved major recognition in 1986 as Tom Cruise’s co-star in the blockbuster “Top Gun,” portraying the memorable character of Tom “Iceman” Kazansky. Kilmer reunited with Cruise in the recent 2022 sequel “Top Gun: Maverick,” showcasing his enduring legacy in the cinematic world.
In addition to his acting career, Kilmer starred in the fantasy film “Willow” (1988), directed by Ron Howard. He was also married to his co-star Joanne Whalley, with whom he had two children before their eventual divorce.
