Kartik Aaryan Reflects on His Dynamic with Karan Johar
Kartik Aaryan recently opened up about his complex relationship with filmmaker Karan Johar, particularly following the shelving of their anticipated project, Dostana 2. During a recent event for SCREEN, Aaryan was prompted to share his feelings after a photo surfaced where Johar playfully tugged at his ear while Aaryan posed with hands folded before him.
In response to the image, Aaryan humorously remarked, “Ispe kya bolu? (What do I say to this?)” He elaborated, saying, “I think yeh love and hate relationship hai… Bahut acha yeh photo represent karti hai (I think this is a love and hate relationship. This photo represents that very well).”
The actor reminisced about the moment captured in the photo, explaining that it was taken prior to their collaboration on Dostana 2. Aaryan noted, “Yeh moment tab ka hai jab hum logo ne pehli film, jo humari honi thi kabhi, voh sign ki thi (This was the moment when our first film, which was going to happen, was signed).” He continued, “I think he knew ki main… photo pehle se le li thi (I think he knew that I… so he took the picture beforehand).”
For context, Dostana 2 was intended to be a sequel featuring Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor, following the original film that starred Abhishek Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, and John Abraham. The project was eventually shelved, which contributed to a significant rift between Aaryan and Johar. However, reports suggest that any tension has since been resolved, paving the way for their latest collaboration on a film tentatively titled Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri.
Aaryan stated, “But abhi main inke sath film kar raha hu. And hum sath mein kar rahe hain yeh film and I hope yeh film toh hogi (Now I am doing a film with him. We are doing it together and I hope it happens).” He expressed enthusiasm about the new project, adding, “Yeh film toh bohot special hone wali hai (This film is going to be very special).”
While the announcement of this new film was made weeks ago, details regarding the cast, particularly who will star alongside Aaryan, remain undisclosed.
