Kartik Aaryan’s Naagzilla Poster Criticized for Using an Old Instagram Image
The film Naagzilla is set to hit theaters on August 14, 2026.
The release of the poster for Kartik Aaryan’s upcoming film, Naagzilla, initially generated buzz, especially with its portrayal of an Ichadaari Naag (shape-shifting serpent). However, this excitement quickly turned to skepticism as social media users began to highlight that the poster appeared to recycle an old photo from Aaryan’s own Instagram feed. This revelation raised questions regarding the originality and creative direction of the promotional material.
A user on Reddit pointed out the striking similarity between the new poster and a past Instagram image of Aaryan, stating, “So Dharma reused Kartik’s old Instagram post for their movie poster. KJo’s team seems to have stopped putting in effort.”
This similarity ignited a wave of criticism, with many users voicing concerns about Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and their approach to the poster design. One user lamented, “When will this AI epidemic leave the design industry? Literally all movie posters have started looking the same and overly artificial because of this AI overuse.” Another comment expressed disdain over the rushed production quality, describing the visuals as “unbelievably bad for a 2025 title” and expressing that the overall project felt “downright nonsense.” Comments like “It’s so embarrassing” further echoed the sentiment of discontent among viewers.
Naagzilla, which is backed by producers Karan Johar, Mahaveer Jain, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, and Sujit Jain, promises to deliver a unique blend of fantasy and folklore entertainment. However, specific details regarding the film’s storyline have yet to be disclosed.
Fans can look forward to Naagzilla’s theatrical release on August 14, 2026.
