Katy Perry Remembers Beloved Hairstylist Jesus Guerrero Following His Untimely Passing
Katy Perry has shared heartfelt memories of her late friend and renowned hairstylist, Jesus Guerrero, who tragically passed away at the age of 34.
On March 1, Perry posted an emotional tribute on Instagram, showcasing a moving compilation of photos and videos honoring Guerrero, who left this world unexpectedly a week prior.
In her post, the 40-year-old pop artist affectionately referred to Guerrero, writing, “Hey Hey aka Chuy aka Jesus, our light filled beautiful boy .” The touching caption accompanied a series of clips and images that captured their time together, featuring moments from professional styling sessions to casual hangouts.
Perry reflected on Guerrero’s vibrant spirit, noting, “You always made every room so warm and welcome. There was no problem too big to solve, and one of your many talents was effortlessly reminding women around the world of our Goddess nature with even just a simple blowout.”
She continued to express the deep bond they shared, emphasizing how Guerrero nurtured those around him with positivity and kindness. “It was easy to love you because you always felt like an old friend who would tell you the truth and hold you if you needed an extra cuddle,” Perry wrote.
In a poignant moment of reflection, the singer shared her thoughts on grief, quoting, “Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.”
Perry encouraged those mourning to channel their grief into acts of love, saying, “Let us take that grief and replant it as a seed of love and give it to someone who needs it from you today. Life is precious, and when we unexpectedly lose ones we love without being able to say goodbye, it reminds us to never ever hold back on giving out our love.”
Concluding her message with a lighthearted joke about one of Guerrero’s signature hair styles, Perry stated, “Jesus, you effervescent soul, you better be giving the other Jesus a choppy feather or an octopus cut up there lol… till we meet again, I love you Chuy.”
Guerrero’s family revealed the news of his death through a series of posts on Instagram on February 23. They expressed their gratitude for the support they received during this difficult time, stating, “Jesus was the brightest light; we have never doubted that he touched the hearts and lives of everyone he came across.”
The tributes to Guerrero extended beyond Perry, as his younger sister Gris shared on a GoFundMe page that he had passed “suddenly and unexpectedly,” and noted that the cause of his death has not been disclosed.
Gris also highlighted Guerrero’s background, stating, “Born and raised in Houston, Texas, to immigrant parents, Jesus learned how to work hard and dreamed of taking his skills to the top. Unfortunately, his passing came very suddenly and unexpectedly.”
Among those affected by Guerrero’s sudden death is Kylie Jenner, who stepped forward to support his family by offering to cover funeral expenses. An insider shared that Jenner is deeply saddened, recognizing the immense loss to Guerrero’s family and seeking to alleviate their financial burdens during this challenging time.
Guerrero leaves behind a legacy shaped by his artistry and the connections he forged with a wide array of high-profile clients, including Jennifer Lopez, Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Rosalía, Demi Moore, Charli XCX, Camila Cabello, Dua Lipa, and Lisa of BLACKPINK.
