Kelly Clarkson’s Children Advocate Against Dating

Kelly Clarkson’s two children, River and Remington, have made it clear that the one thing they want from their mother is to avoid dating anyone else. The singer, who underwent a divorce from her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock in 2020, finds herself navigating a complex emotional landscape as she considers re-entering the dating world.

During a recent interview on KOST 103.5, Clarkson shared her children’s strong feelings about their mother’s romantic life. “Both my kids are not [into it and] they constantly bring it up, ‘Please, we don’t want you to be with anybody else,’” she revealed, as reported by Us Weekly. The singer noted that as children, it’s understandably difficult for them to envision their mother with anyone but their father.

Clarkson went on to express her love for her children but emphasized the importance of personal connection and romance in her life. “I have expressed like, ‘Hey, I love you, but Mommy needs lovings too,’” she remarked. While she isn’t actively seeking a partner at the moment, she finds the idea of a future relationship to be both exciting and hopeful.

Looking for a more relaxed relationship dynamic, Clarkson faces challenges with potential partners who often desire deeper commitments right away. “I feel, like, I’m a magnet for people who are all-in right off the bat and want to be exclusive,” she stated, reflecting on her current dating situation. Although she is open to love, her focus remains on her children. “I’m very non-committal at the moment…and I have little ones,” she added, reinforcing the need for patience until she is ready. Clarkson has also reassured her daughter that it’s acceptable for her to seek romance when the time is right.

In light of her past experiences, Clarkson has also clarified her stance on marriage. In January, when probed about plans to remarry, she firmly indicated, “No, I never wanted to get married the first time.” She explained that her previous marriage held importance for Blackstock due to his background and values, but she has never felt a strong inclination toward marriage herself.
