Kevin Hart Set to Star in Upcoming Comedy “72 Hours”
Kevin Hart is preparing to take the lead in “72 Hours,” a new comedy film directed by Tim Story, known for his work on popular projects like “Barbershop” and “Ride Along.” This film is a collaborative effort between Netflix and Sony Pictures, promising to blend Hart’s unique comedic style with an engaging storyline.
In “72 Hours,” Hart portrays a 40-year-old executive struggling to turn around his stagnant career. His unexpected journey begins when he is mistakenly included in a group text for a wild three-day bachelor party with a group of twenty-something’s. This scenario sets the stage for a comedic exploration of generational differences and the chaos that ensues over the bachelor weekend.
Kevin Hart is not only the star of the film but is also taking on a production role through his company, Hartbeat. He will collaborate with notable names in the industry, including Will Packer, Davis Entertainment, and Counterbalance. The screenplay is crafted by a talented team of writers, including Matt Mider, Kevin Burrows, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, with Ross Fanger serving as the executive producer.
The film is being developed under a first-look agreement between Sony and Netflix. This deal allows Netflix to have the first opportunity to consider any film project Sony intends to produce for streaming. Additionally, all films released theatrically by Sony Pictures will subsequently be available on Netflix following their exclusive release period, enhancing the content available to Netflix subscribers.
Recently, Hart was seen in the Lionsgate film “Borderlands” as well as in the Netflix heist comedy “Lift,” directed by F. Gary Gray. He is represented by WME, while Tim Story is represented by UTA.
