Renowned figure in the Hip Hop music scene, Kevin Liles, is moving forward with efforts to dismiss a sexual assault lawsuit brought against him.
Kevin has submitted new legal documentation this past Tuesday, requesting court approval to file a motion aimed at dismissing allegations made by a woman who asserts that he raped her in 2002 during his tenure at Def Jam Recordings.
In the documentation acquired by TMZ, Kevin argues that the lawsuit should be dismissed based on the assertion that the woman waited too long to present her claims, indicating that the statute of limitations has expired for her allegations.
Additionally, he contends that the lawsuit contains assertions that are “entirely false,” expressing that the accuser lacks sufficient detail for the case to proceed effectively.
The controversy gained public attention when Liles was first sued in February by an anonymous plaintiff, referred to as Jane Doe. The lawsuit details claims that she experienced ongoing sexual harassment while under his supervision at Def Jam, alleging that Kevin would frequently press his body against her and make unwanted physical contact, culminating in an incident where she claims he raped her after she rejected his advances.
Following the filing of the lawsuit, Kevin swiftly denied all allegations against him. He is now officially notifying the court of his intention to seek a dismissal of the case.
