KFC Introduces “Kentucky Fried Chicken Rain” for Sleep Enhancement

KFC is tapping into the ASMR trend to help patrons achieve a good night’s rest, introducing an auditory experience inspired by the comforting sounds of fried chicken cooking.

For those unfamiliar with ASMR, or autonomous sensory meridian response, it refers to a phenomenon where certain sounds and visuals can evoke relaxing sensations in listeners. These experiences have gained tremendous popularity online, often featuring soft whispers and gentle sounds designed to ease stress. Interestingly, KFC’s approach highlights that the sizzling sound of fried chicken can provide a similar calming effect, reminiscent of rain falling.

In a strategic collaboration with Hatch, a company dedicated to sleep wellness, KFC is launching a new content channel called “Kentucky Fried Chicken Rain” aimed at promoting relaxation and sleep.

Catherine Tan-Gillespie, KFC’s U.S. chief marketing and development officer, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “The taste and smell of our secret blend of 11 herbs and spices may be iconic, but who knew the sound of that delicious chicken frying could help you fall asleep? Now, in addition to the new KFC Original Recipe Tenders, people can drift off to sleep accompanied by the soothing sounds of frying chicken through the ‘Kentucky Fried Chicken Rain’ content channel on Hatch+.”

This custom soundscape is exclusively available on Restore 2 smart sleep devices to users subscribed to Hatch+ premium content. Additionally, it’s accessible through the Hatch for Sleep and KFC YouTube channels, as well as the Hatch for Sleep Spotify page.

The development of this soothing audio was not taken lightly. Eric Pallotta, CMO of Hatch, emphasized their commitment to creating effective sleep audio. He noted, “At Hatch, we take pride in producing the most effective audio for sleep. When we continued to encounter social media commentary about the similarities between frying chicken and rain, we decided to make the best version of that audio,” highlighting KFC’s partnership as the perfect alignment for this unique project.

For those who do not own a Hatch device, KFC Rewards loyalty members are eligible for a special discount on the Hatch Restore 2 device, expanding access to this innovative auditory experience. However, a word of caution: indulging in this ASMR may lead to cravings for more fried chicken upon waking up!
