Kid Rock Criticizes Michelle Obama’s Decision to Skip Trump’s Inauguration
Music icon Kid Rock recently criticized former First Lady Michelle Obama for her decision not to attend the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump. He remarked that she “seems a little angry” regarding the situation.
Kid Rock’s Call for Respect
Set to perform at the inauguration festivities on January 20, Kid Rock expressed the view that Michelle Obama should participate as a sign of “respect for the presidency.” He highlighted his own experience when he performed at Barack Obama’s inauguration despite not voting for him.
“I did not vote for [Barack] Obama, but when they asked me to play the inauguration, I came and I had a good time,” Kid Rock shared during an appearance on “Jesse Watters Primetime,” emphasizing his commitment to honoring the democratic process.
Reasons Behind Michelle Obama’s Absence
Recent reports suggest that Michelle Obama is choosing to skip Trump’s inauguration to avoid having to mask her feelings about the incoming president. Sources indicate that her absence is perceived as a form of resistance, potentially preserving her credibility by staying away from the event.
Michelle Obama has openly expressed her discontent towards Trump in the past, notably during the Democratic National Convention prior to the 2024 election, where she criticized him for perpetuating “ugly misogynistic, racist lies” instead of offering real solutions to improve people’s lives.
Notable Attendance at the Inauguration
As the inauguration approaches, it is expected that former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton will attend, along with their spouses and other notable figures. This absence of Michelle Obama will mark the second significant event she has missed in recent weeks, following her decision to skip the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter, which was also attended by Trump and Barack Obama.
Amidst his comments regarding Michelle Obama’s absence, Kid Rock expressed his enthusiasm for the inauguration and referred to Trump as a “terrific guy.” He stressed the need for leadership that prioritizes sensible decision-making and governance akin to running a business.
“We need someone in here making sensible decisions,” he stated. “I want somebody smart who can run this country, keep us safe, run it like a business, and make America great again.”
