The long-running comedy podcast, Kill Tony, has concluded its remarkable 12-year run of weekly episodes on YouTube, now transitioning to a new format on Netflix.

Over the years, Kill Tony has established itself as a premier platform for up-and-coming comedians, allowing them to perform one-minute sets that are often followed by candid interviews and critiques from well-known guests in the comedy scene.

On April 7, 2024, the new episode was notably absent from YouTube, marking a significant shift. Instead, it premiered on Netflix under the title ‘Kill or Be Killed,’ filmed at The Comedy Mothership in Austin, Texas.

Kill Tony’s Netflix debut ends YouTube streak

This Netflix debut is part of a larger agreement that includes three exclusive episodes, a move that had been anticipated for some time before officially being announced in March.

In advance of this change, the Kill Tony team issued a statement via YouTube, alerting fans about the transition. The message emphasized the excitement surrounding the Netflix release while maintaining a connection with their long-time audience.

“For the first time in 12 years, this Monday’s brand new episode of Kill Tony will not be posted on YouTube. But fear not, because there is a brand new episode for you to experience… and it’s one of the greatest episodes ever,” the statement noted, concluding with the Netflix branding.

The episode featured a stellar lineup of comedians, including notable figures such as Joe Rogan, Tom Segura, and Shane Gillis, who notably performed his well-known impersonation of Donald Trump, alongside Kyle Dunnigan’s take on Elon Musk.

Previously, Gillis’s impersonation had contributed to a record-breaking episode, garnering over 24 million views on YouTube, making it the most-watched episode in the show’s history.

Tony Hinchcliffe, the show’s host, revealed that this particular segment set a remarkable YouTube record for viewer retention, meaning audiences were highly engaged with that content.

In addition to the special episodes on Netflix, fans can expect a one-hour stand-up performance from Hinchcliffe himself to debut on the platform as part of the new deal.
