On a YouTube channel, the late actress’ aunt claimed that Kim Sae Ron and Kim Soo Hyun dated for six years.

The South Korean entertainment industry is currently embroiled in controversy as claims have surfaced regarding the late actress Kim Sae Ron and her alleged relationship with actor Kim Soo Hyun. The allegations, made by Kim Sae Ron’s aunt during a live stream on the Garosero Research Institute’s YouTube channel, assert that the two began dating in 2015 when Kim Sae Ron was 15 years old and Kim Soo Hyun was 27. This supposed romance lasted until 2021, raising significant ethical concerns regarding their age difference.
In her remarks, Kim Sae Ron’s aunt revealed that Kim Soo Hyun reportedly established his own management firm, GOLD MEDALIST, in 2019, with Kim Sae Ron assisting him by offering her talents in directing new recruits and providing acting lessons without compensation. The situation allegedly took a downturn after the couple’s breakup in 2022, a year that saw Kim Sae Ron face legal troubles stemming from a drunk driving incident. Notably, Kim Soo Hyun and GOLD MEDALIST came to her aid financially during this challenging time.
The company reportedly covered ₩700 million KRW (approximately $483,000 USD) for damages related to the incident, without asking Kim Sae Ron to reimburse the cost initially. Despite her gratitude, Kim Sae Ron aimed to repay the amount. However, complications arose after her contract with GOLD MEDALIST was terminated, leading to a demand for repayment of the ₩700 million KRW. Distressed, Kim Sae Ron attempted to reach out to Kim Soo Hyun, who allegedly evaded her attempts to communicate. According to her aunt, the intrusion of the media into their personal affairs exacerbated Kim Sae Ron’s feelings of betrayal.
In light of these developments, Kim Soo Hyun’s agency released a statement that garnered criticism, further alleging that Kim Sae Ron had been struggling financially and that this contributed to her tragic decision to take her own life on Kim Soo Hyun’s birthday. The aunt claims that the family possesses substantial evidence of the couple’s lengthy relationship.
In response to the serious allegations presented, GOLD MEDALIST issued a firm denial and announced intentions to pursue legal action against defamation claims that involve both Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron, seeking to protect their reputations amidst the ongoing scandal.
