In light of the ongoing media scrutiny surrounding South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun, recent updates indicate that a fan meeting he was slated to hold in Taiwan has been cancelled. This event was expected to be his first public appearance following the troubling allegations.
According to the actor’s agency, Gold Medalist, the cancellation was made primarily due to concerns for Kim Soo Hyun’s safety. As reported by Koreaboo, the agency issued a formal statement stating, “Kim Soo Hyun’s Taiwanese brand event schedule has been postponed for safety reasons.”
Prior to this announcement from Gold Medalist, event organizers had also released a statement citing “scheduling conflicts” as the reason for the cancellation. They expressed regret, stating, “We regret to inform you that Kim Soo Hyun will not be able to attend the fan meeting scheduled for March 30 due to scheduling conflicts. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to our members.”
The cancellation of the fan meet may have significant financial implications for Kim Soo Hyun, as it has been reported that he could face penalties upwards of 30 million Taiwanese dollars, equivalent to approximately ₹7.80 crore.
For those unfamiliar with the situation, Kim Soo Hyun has been embroiled in controversy for some time. He faces allegations of having been romantically involved with Kim Sae-Ron while she was still a minor. Recently, Sae-Ron’s family publicly shared what they allege are private messages exchanged between Kim Soo Hyun and their late daughter, claiming these communications substantiate their allegations.
In a previous statement, Gold Medalist acknowledged the relationship between Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron, confirming that they were together during 2019 and 2020 while also addressing the allegations about the timing of their relationship. The agency clarified that the controversial photo that circulated online was taken in 2020, countering claims that it was from earlier years.
