Kraftwerk to Embark on North American Tour for 50th Anniversary of Autobahn
The renowned German band Kraftwerk is set to return to North America, commemorating the 50th anniversary of their iconic album Autobahn and their inaugural U.S. tour in 1975.
Described as a multimedia experience, the tour is being presented as a “Gesamtkunstwerk – a total work of art.” This artistic endeavor will seamlessly weave together music, visuals, and performance art into a cohesive show. The tour will span 25 cities, launching on March 6, 2025, at Franklin Music Hall in Philadelphia. Cities included in the itinerary are Pittsburgh, Toronto, Montreal, Memphis, Nashville, New York City, Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago, and many more. Additionally, Kraftwerk is scheduled to make their third appearance at Coachella on April 13 and 20.
Tickets for the tour will be available beginning December 13 at 10 a.m. local time through kraftwerktour25.com. Fans can also register for presale access starting today.
To announce their upcoming tour, Kraftwerk collaborated with celebrated skateboarder Tony Hawk for a promotional trailer. The video features Hawk and three others recreating the aesthetic of the cover of The Man-Machine on a half-pipe, while tour dates are showcased onscreen.
Rolling Stone recently recognized Autobahn as one of “The 74 Best Albums of 1974,” ranking it at number 53. The famous title track was highlighted for its role in giving experimental electronic music a distinctive drive, further paving the way for synth-pop with its groundbreaking and uniquely captivating 22-minute techno piece, which has been likened to a “robo-Beach Boys” anthem.
