Kunal Kemmu Envisions a Sequel to India’s First Zombie Film, Go Goa Gone, Featuring Saif Ali Khan
Actor Kunal Kemmu has expressed a strong desire to direct a sequel to the groundbreaking Indian zombie film, Go Goa Gone, which starred Saif Ali Khan. In a recent interview, Kunal reflected on his enjoyable experience working with Saif and expressed his hope that they could collaborate again in the future.
Kunal has established a notable presence in Bollywood through a series of successful comedies, including Go Goa Gone, Dhol, Golmaal 3, and Golmaal Again. Following his successful directorial debut with Madgaon Express last year, which received positive feedback and performed well at the box office, Kunal’s fans are eagerly anticipating his next creative endeavor, which he hopes will be a sequel to Go Goa Gone.
In his conversation with ANI, Kunal reminisced about his time working alongside Saif Ali Khan in Go Goa Gone and revealed his aspiration to helm a sequel if the opportunity arises. He also expressed interest in collaborating with his mother-in-law, veteran actress Sharmila Tagore. He noted, “I had a great time collaborating with Saif in Go Goa Gone, and it would be fantastic to work with him and Sharmila Tagore again. They are not just family but also incredibly talented actors whose work I deeply admire. If I get a chance to direct a sequel to Go Goa Gone, I would certainly jump at the opportunity.”
Kunal also addressed the complexities involved in producing a sequel, acknowledging the pressures that come with exceeding audience expectations. He articulated the dilemma, saying, “Creating a sequel can be daunting. The first film often welcomes viewers without prior expectations, but once they’ve experienced something they loved, they arrive for the sequel with a set of expectations. This can be a bit nerve-wracking, but it also presents a thrilling challenge to meet those anticipations.”
Although a sequel to Go Goa Gone was announced by the production team back in 2018, it has yet to materialize on the big screen, with the reasons for the delay remaining unclear.
