YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani addresses fans amid India’s Got Latent controversy involving Ranveer Allahabadia’s remarks.
Ashish Chanchlani has released a heartfelt message for his followers following the recent controversy surrounding India’s Got Latent.
After a period of silence regarding the disturbances caused by his fellow YouTuber, Ashish Chanchlani shared a video message on March 3. In the clip, he appeared visibly troubled while vowing to face the current challenges head-on. He implored his supporters to stand by him as he navigates through this tumultuous period, expressing optimism about returning stronger once the situation resolves.
This emotional appeal marked Chanchlani’s first public response following Ranveer Allahabadia’s controversial “sex with parents” remark during an episode of India’s Got Latent, which elicited significant backlash.
In his message, he stated, “Hello doston, kaise ho aap log, I know, aapke messages padhe maine, chal raha hai. Maine socha story pe aapse baat karlun lekin ab samajh nahi aa raha kya kahoon. Lad lenge situation se, dekhe hain aise tough times, isse bhi kuch naya seekh lenge (Hello friends, how are you all? I know I’ve read your messages—everything is going on. I thought of addressing you through a story, but now I’m uncertain about what to say. We’ll tackle this situation; we’ve experienced difficult times and will learn something new from this challenge).”
He went on to ask his audience, “Main bas request karta hoon aap logon se ki aap meri family aur mujhe apne prayers mein rakhna. Jab bhi main wapis aau, kaam mera thoda idhar udhar ho gaya hain. Jab bhi wapis aaya, support karna. I’ll work hard. Bas dhyaan rakho sab log apna (I just have one request—please keep my family and me in your prayers. In the wake of his post, a wave of support poured in from celebrities, fellow YouTubers, and fans. Notable filmmaker Farah Khan expressed her affection for Chanchlani with a simple “Love you Ashish.” Actor Rithvikk Dhanjani also chimed in, stating, “Upar wala saath hai dost,” encouraging him during this challenging time. His followers encouraged him to come back even stronger than before.
In light of the situation, Ashish Chanchlani has pursued legal action, filing a petition with the Supreme Court in February 2025 to quash or move to Mumbai an FIR registered against him in Guwahati. He is named in a case in which Ranveer Allahabadia has emerged as the primary accused for his inflammatory comments on the roast comedy show, India’s Got Latent. During the proceedings, the Guwahati High Court granted Chanchlani interim bail while he awaits a hearing on his anticipatory bail application, instructing him to report to the investigating officer within ten days.
Chanchlani’s legal team contended that he did not make any inappropriate statements during the show and that the allegations in the FIR were directed at the other co-accused individuals.
What sparked the India’s Got Latent controversy?
The controversy ignited when Ranveer Allahabadia appeared on Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent in January 2025. He posed a shocking question to a contestant: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?” This remark incited outrage among viewers, many of whom criticized the perceived vulgarity of the comment. Subsequently, the video was removed from YouTube after intervention from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting as well as the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
Following the uproar, a formal police complaint was filed against not just Allahabadia, but also against Samay and other judges present on the episode, including Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija.
