New F1 Karting Attraction Launches in Las Vegas
Las Vegas is gearing up for its third season of Formula 1 racing with the introduction of an innovative karting experience. Starting in early May, race fans visiting the city will have the chance to delve into the excitement of kart racing at a brand-new track.
Since hosting its inaugural grand prix in 2023, Las Vegas has transformed into a dazzling location for night racing, where cars zip through the vibrant neon landscape of the Strip, passing landmarks like the striking Sphere. This new attraction offers enthusiasts a taste of that exhilaration firsthand.
At F1 Drive, patrons can take control of custom karts equipped with cutting-edge Drag Reduction System technology and a high-tech steering wheel display that tracks important stats, including lap times and competition intervals. These karts, boasting a maximum speed of 30 miles per hour, provide a sensation that feels even faster on the tight and twisty course.
To enhance the authenticity of the racing experience, participants will be immersed in sounds captured from the 2023 Formula 1 season. Plus, they will receive real-time updates and strategies from a virtual Race Engineer via their helmets, mimicking the experience of professional drivers during a race.
There are three race packages available for drivers. The Mixed Grid package is tailored for families and novices, allowing children aged 12 and up to participate in two 15-minute sessions at moderated speeds for $79. The Elite Experience, priced at $99, allows participants to race at full speed in two 15-minute sessions, concluding with a victory celebration for the top three finishers. An additional Fastest Lap option lets competitors focus on achieving their best time.
The track itself spans 1,696 feet and presents 31 challenging turns, encompassing both indoor and outdoor sections, along with a segment that mirrors the actual grand prix circuit. F1 Drive marks the first of its kind in North America, set to launch on May 2.
“We aim to deliver an experience that replicates the essence of an F1 race without requiring professional driving skills,” stated Jonathan Linden, attraction producer and co-CEO of Round Room Live, in a recent press release. “Las Vegas is the ideal location to offer this, celebrating what makes F1 a global sensation, while promising thrilling experiences for all.”
F1 Drive is part of the expansive 39-acre Grand Prix Plaza, which features three admission-based attractions, engaging exhibits, a gift shop, and a restaurant. Beyond the karting experience, fans can explore the legacy of Formula 1 in a museum filled with historical artifacts, design their own race car in a dedicated studio, and engage in the Pit Wall Challenge, where they make strategic race decisions regarding tire changes and pit stops in a simulated environment.
F1 Drive opens on May 2 at the Grand Prix Plaza, with hours of operation from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Tickets can be purchased at GrandPrixPlaza.com.
