Law Roach and Zendaya: A Unique Fashion Partnership
Law Roach and Zendaya have cultivated a dynamic and visually stunning styling partnership over the years. Each appearance at events, particularly on the red carpet, showcases outfits that are not only beautiful but also reflective of Zendaya’s distinctive style and personality.
This successful collaboration, which has spanned more than ten years, is marked by a seamless connection where both artist and stylist support and inspire one another. Roach has dressed Zendaya for a multitude of high-profile occasions, including several Met Galas, where she has taken on significant roles, such as co-chair. Throughout her press tours and various red carpet appearances, their synergy is evident in the fashion choices made.
Roach has consistently selected stunning outfits that resonate with Zendaya’s essence, accompanying her to many of these events not just as her stylist, but as a supportive friend. Even after announcing his retirement from styling in March 2023, he continues to collaborate with the actress alongside a select group of other clients. Despite stepping back from the industry, Roach remains committed to pushing the boundaries of fashion through his work with Zendaya, setting the stage for future goals he hopes to achieve together.
In an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE, Roach shared a nostalgic reflection on his early inspirations. “In the early 2000s, there was a promoter named Andre J, who worked in elite clubs,” he recalled. “His unique style had a profound impact on me.” Roach reminisced about a specific 2007 Vogue Paris cover featuring Andre J with model Carolyn Murphy, noting how it intrigued him for years.
Roach expressed a desire to recreate that iconic cover with Zendaya, stating, “I’ve been manifesting that, and it’s been on my vision board and my wish list.” This ambition illustrates Roach’s creative aspirations and the dreams he continues to pursue even as he transitions away from traditional fashion styling.
Upon announcing his retirement, Roach clarified that his exit was not a response to fashion itself but rather the complexities surrounding the industry. “If this business was just about the clothes, I would do it for the rest of my life, but unfortunately, it’s not! The politics, the lies, and false narratives finally got me!” he expressed at the time.
Currently, Roach describes a transformative phase in his career where he aims to serve a larger audience. Engaged in activities that resonate with him, he is focused on initiatives like writing a book, How to Build a Fashion Icon, which was released recently. In addition, he collaborates with brands he admires, including his latest project with Pepsi Wild Cherry, and teaches future stylists through the School of Style.
In this new chapter of his life, Roach reflects positively on his well-being, declaring, “I am the happiest I think I may have ever been in my entire life.”
