The band captivated fans with a memorable performance at the Knockdown Center in Queens over the weekend.
LCD Soundsystem revisited their archives during the show, treating attendees to “North American Scum,” a track they had not performed live since their much-publicized farewell concert at Madison Square Garden in 2011.
As part of their ongoing residency at the Knockdown Center, the band reintroduced the Sound Of Silver single, much to the delight of fans who had waited years to hear it performed live since the group’s reunion.
The song, first released in February 2007, served as the lead single from their acclaimed LP. Accompanied by a video directed by Benjamin Dickinson, it was last played on April 2, 2011, during a special performance that featured members of Arcade Fire. This notable event is encapsulated in the band’s documentary, Shut Up and Play the Hits, which captures the band’s final moments before their hiatus.
After announcing their intention to “retire” in 2011 with what were billed as their last performances, the band experienced a revival when they reunited in 2016. Their subsequent album, American Dream, was released in 2017, and the excitement around their music continues as they are reportedly working on new material set to debut ahead of their appearance at the Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona next June.

In November, the band released a new single titled “X-Ray Eyes.” However, frontman James Murphy clarified that the completion of an album is not as urgent as the upcoming festival may imply. He described the track as the start of a new album journey, saying, “It feels very good to be putting out new music.”
Despite the buzz about a forthcoming album, Murphy cautioned fans with a note of realism: “No, there’s no finished LP yet. But when we’re not playing shows, it’s getting closer and closer to completion. So that’s the news. Anything else you hear is bullshit speculation.”
