What You Need to Know
A recent leak suggests that Samsung’s upcoming One UI 8 may introduce an innovative feature that utilizes artificial intelligence for video summarization at the software level. This new Galaxy AI tool aims to provide users with concise summaries of video content, similar to existing features in platforms like YouTube. The AI will interpret both visuals and spoken content within videos to generate these summaries.
The details concerning One UI 8 have been surfacing frequently, with the latest insights revealed by SammyGuru. During a thorough exploration of the new user interface, the publication stumbled upon the AI Video Summarize tool hidden within a debug menu while testing various settings.
A demonstration of the tool was showcased in a video, illustrating its functionality. Much like YouTube’s video summary capabilities, this tool appears to analyze a video’s content, recognizing elements such as speech, visuals, and captions. Following this analysis, Galaxy AI is expected to provide a concise report of the video’s main points in the form of a “neatly organized list.”
Expanding Functionality
According to the findings, this summarization tool could also be applied to other streaming applications and websites. In its current state, Samsung’s feature only summarizes the video title, description, and related content. However, with enhancements expected in One UI 8, including a redesign of Samsung Internet, the tool may soon be able to summarize longer videos effectively.
The initial tests conducted by the publication indicated that the tool produced highly accurate summaries of YouTube videos, capturing all essential points in bullet form. Users are provided with options to either copy or translate the summary directly from the interface, enhancing usability.
It’s worth noting, however, that the ‘Detailed’ summary option within Galaxy AI is not yet fully operational with the current video tool, as mentioned by SammyGuru.
Additional Features in One UI 8
In parallel developments, a user on social media has identified a potential redesign of the weather app associated with One UI 8, sharing screenshots that highlight new 3D avatars. These interactive avatars are designed to respond to the prevailing weather conditions, coming with accessories such as jackets, caps, or umbrellas, depending on the forecast.
