The Google Pixel 9a is anticipated to make its market debut next month, with an increasing number of leaks and reports unveiling key specifications and features of the device. Recently, unofficial images of the official accessories designed for the smartphone emerged online. In addition, renderings of the phone have been released, showcasing its overall design and potential color choices. The Pixel 9a is expected to be powered by a Tensor G4 system on chip (SoC) and will follow the Pixel 8a, which was introduced in May 2024.
Leaked Renders of Google Pixel 9a
A report from Android Headlines has unveiled leaked design renders of the forthcoming Google Pixel 9a. The phone is shown to be available in four distinct color variants: Iris, Obsidian, Peony, and Porcelain. Unlike its predecessor, the device features a flat rear camera module that is flush with the back panel, marking a significant change from the camera design seen in the previous Pixel 8a model.
The dimensions of the Google Pixel 9a are said to be 154 x 73 x 8.9mm, indicating that it is slightly larger than its predecessor. This increase in size is primarily attributed to the incorporation of a bigger battery, which is expected to be 5,100mAh—the largest battery ever included in a Pixel smartphone. The new model is anticipated to retain the same charging capabilities as the Pixel 8a, supporting 23W wired and 7.5W wireless charging.
Earlier reports suggest that the Google Pixel 9a will come equipped with a Tensor G4 SoC along with a Titan M2 security chip for enhanced protection. The pre-order period is rumored to commence on March 19, with sales expected to start on March 26. Pricing for the Pixel 9a is anticipated to begin at $499 (approximately Rs. 42,000) for the 128GB storage variant.
In terms of camera capabilities, the Google Pixel 9a is likely to feature a 48-megapixel primary sensor on the rear, complemented by a 13-megapixel ultra-wide Sony IMX712 sensor. For selfies, it is expected that the device will also include a 13-megapixel front-facing camera. Furthermore, the smartphone may come with an IP68 rating, providing protection against dust and water immersion.
