According to a translated transcript from the BBC, the hotel’s chief receptionist described to emergency responders a guest who had consumed excessive drugs and alcohol, stating, “We need someone urgently because we’re concerned for his safety, especially as he is in a room with a balcony…” This call was logged around 5:01 p.m., just before the fall occurred.

Subsequent reports from the New York Post highlighted distressing images allegedly from Payne’s hotel room, showcasing a chaotic scene replete with debris, drug-related paraphernalia, and personal items. Among the items, authorities reportedly discovered clonazepam, a potent drug commonly used for treating epilepsy and anxiety disorders, as well as alcohol-related substances.

In the courtyard where Liam’s body was located, authorities found a bottle of whiskey, a lighter, and a cellphone, raising further questions surrounding the circumstances of his death. This poignant incident marks a tragic chapter in the life of the former One Direction star, who shot to fame in 2010 alongside his bandmates Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik before the group’s hiatus in 2016.
