Danielle Haim has recently released an introspective single titled “Everybody’s Trying to Figure Me Out.” She described the song as her “favorite” from their recent work.

In her Instagram announcement, she shared, “Writing it has gotten me through some hard times, and we felt this might be of some use to get our vibes right for this summer!” The inspiration for the track came after a panic attack she experienced upon returning home from touring. Despite the joy of a successful tour, she found herself unsettled when facing solitude.

Haim reflected on the experience, stating, “After a lot of reflecting I realized I’ve let a lot of people try and tell me how I should live my life, but I realized in making everyone else happy, I lost myself. I wrote this as a way to believe in myself again and quit being scared to do what I want. I hope this finds anyone who needs it.”

The release of “Everybody’s Trying to Figure Me Out” follows the band’s previous single, “Relationships,” which debuted last month. Both tracks will be part of Haim’s anticipated fourth album, which is still unnamed. The new album is produced by Rostam Batmanglij, marking a notable collaboration for the band after their last release, Women in Music Pt. III, almost five years ago.

In a recent interview, Alana Haim expressed that their forthcoming album represents “the closest we’ve ever gotten to how we wanted to sound.” She described the recording process as a “completely different experience” compared to previous projects. Danielle further emphasized the energetic and dynamic nature of working with Rostam, stating, “In general, it’s very quick, kinetic with him, which I really love as an artist.”

Additionally, Danielle collaborated with Bon Iver on a track titled “If Only I Could Wait” from their joint project SABLE, fABLE. Justin Vernon, the frontman of Bon Iver, poignantly described the song as “A duet. A bilateral crying question. How long can the two of us hang on to each other?”
