Following the announcement of the 2025 Oscar nominations on Thursday morning, Awards Magnet hosts Christopher Rosen and Joyce Eng will go live on YouTube around 9:15 a.m. ET/6:15 a.m. PT to delve into the nominations, highlighting both expected entries and surprising omissions.
Last week, the hosts predicted nominees but faced challenges in key categories much like many industry observers. One point of contention is the 10th spot in Best Picture, with both hosts believing Sing Sing deserved a nomination, particularly after its absence from the Producers Guild of America Awards, which favored September 5. The selection for the fifth slot in both the Best Actor and Best Actress categories is equally contentious, sparking debate over whether Daniel Craig or Sebastian Stan, and Fernanda Torres or Marianne Jean-Baptiste or Pamela Anderson will secure the coveted recognition. Additionally, there’s speculation around whether Jamie Lee Curtis could leverage her surprise nominations from the Screen Actors Guild and BAFTA for her role in The Last Showgirl into an Oscar nod.
