Liverpool FC Party Shut Down Over Drug Paraphernalia Concerns

Liverpool FC has made it clear that it does not condone illegal activities at any of its events or venues, following a recent incident at a staff Christmas party held in the city’s Anglican cathedral.

The football club confirmed that an “incident” occurred on Thursday evening, resulting in the early closure of the event. In a statement, Liverpool FC emphasized its firm stance against the use of illegal substances, stating: “We do not condone or tolerate the use of illegal substances at any of our sites or events.”

Importantly, the club clarified that no players or first-team manager Arne Slot were present at the gathering, which was specifically for non-football staff. Reports indicated that the closure was prompted by the discovery of suspected drug paraphernalia, following a medical episode experienced by one attendee.

Fortunately, Liverpool FC reported that the affected staff member is “recovering well” after receiving treatment at the hospital, underscoring that the medical incident was “unrelated” to the substance concerns that arose during the party.

Venue Response

Staff from Liverpool Cathedral intervened to terminate the event, citing that the incident did not align with the venue’s values. The cathedral later released a statement confirming the early conclusion of the party, as it fell short of their core principles.

Visuals shared on social media depicted a lavish setup for the Christmas celebration, illuminated with red lights and adorned with the Liverpool club crest projected across the cathedral’s interior walls. Despite the unfortunate turn of events, Liverpool Cathedral, noted as the largest in Britain and the fifth largest globally, expressed the importance of hosting such events, which aid in keeping the site accessible to the public.

Future Precautions

A spokesperson for the cathedral highlighted that their staff responded appropriately to the situation, and emphasized gratitude towards both their team and Liverpool FC for their collaboration in addressing the incident efficiently. Ongoing evaluations of procedures and preventative measures for future gatherings are planned to ensure such occurrences are mitigated.

In light of these developments, Liverpool FC continues to uphold its commitment to fostering a safe and responsible environment at all events associated with the club.
