Celebration Awaits: Liverpool Champions Parade Announced
Premier League champions Liverpool are set to honor their latest title triumph with a grand parade through the city. The announcement comes after a triumphant 5-1 victory over Tottenham at Anfield, marking their second Premier League title and equaling a historic total of 20 top-flight trophies.
The much-anticipated parade will commence from Allerton Maze at 14:30 BST on Monday, 26 May. The route will cover approximately nine miles, passing through key areas such as Queens Drive and The Strand, before concluding at Blundell Street.
Hundreds of thousands of supporters are expected to gather along the parade route to celebrate alongside manager Arne Slot and his victorious squad.
A Special Weekend for Liverpool
The victory parade is projected to last between three to five hours, promising a festive atmosphere throughout the city. Liverpool City Council Leader, Liam Robinson, expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We’re thrilled to officially invite Liverpool Football Club to cruise around the city on 26 May. A Liverpool victory parade embodies more than just football; it reflects our city’s pride, passion, and community spirit.”
Robinson also highlighted the festive nature of the weekend, as thousands of music fans are expected to converge on Sefton Park for BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, occurring from Friday to Sunday, May 23-25. Additionally, Liverpool will conclude their Premier League season on May 25 with a home match against Crystal Palace.
Detailed Parade Route
The parade will launch from Allerton Maze, heading north on Queens Drive toward the Fiveways roundabout and Rocket flyover. The procession will route through the following streets:
- Queens Drive
- Mill Bank
- West Derby Road
- Islington
- Leeds Street
- The Strand
The grand finale will be at Blundell Street.
Attendance and Participation
Attendance for the parade is free, inviting fans to line the entire route in celebration. Liverpool FC will cover all event expenses, according to city officials.
Travel Arrangements and Safety Measures
Supporters planning to attend the parade are encouraged to organize their travel arrangements ahead of time. Additionally, the use of pyrotechnics and flares will be strictly prohibited.
A spokesperson from the council noted that further details and guidance will be provided in collaboration with Liverpool FC, Merseyside Police, and Merseytravel as the event approaches.
Chief Inspector Chris Barnes from Merseyside Police stated that rolling road closures will be implemented to facilitate the parade, and some disruption is likely. “We urge motorists to exercise patience or avoid the parade route if possible,” added Barnes. He assured the public that officers will maintain a reassuring presence to ensure the day remains safe and enjoyable for everyone participating in the festivities.
