Both tracks featured in her performance are from Lizzo’s forthcoming album, Love in Real Life, which includes the title track that she also performed live.
Lizzo made a vibrant return to Saturday Night Live, delivering a medley that showcased the title track alongside “Still Bad.” This marks her latest appearance on the show, highlighting her anticipated fifth studio album set for release.
After a year-long break in 2024, during which she described as a “gap year,” Lizzo released “Still Bad” in late February—her first single since 2023, generating excitement among her fans.
While connecting with fans via a Valentine’s Day Twitch stream, Lizzo expressed her enthusiasm for her new music. “I want to introduce to you guys, the newest piece of content from the new era. I’ve been working on new music for the last two years,” she stated. “I took my time and I did it right. The new era has begun today, right now, with you, my chat.”
In March, she previewed her upcoming album with live performances across three major cities: Los Angeles, New York, and Minneapolis. This promotional tour coincided with the release of “Still Bad.”
Reflecting on the creative process behind “Still Bad,” Lizzo shared insights during an interview with Apple Music 1. She noted that the song initially began as a country ballad, expressing a relatable narrative of heartbreak and resilience. “I don’t need him, I need a drink,” she humorously recounted, emphasizing the song’s focus on heartfelt lyrics rather than specific musical style. The poignant themes resonate deeply with listeners, tapping into emotions of loss and longing.
