Brutal Assault on Suffolk University Student Sparks Investigation
“I just remember waking up and seeing blood and arms around my throat,” recounted Aidan Knaster, a student at Suffolk University.
Knaster was the victim of a violent attack while walking back to his dorm late Saturday night around 11 PM. The incident occurred on Tremont Street in Boston, where he was confronted by a group of teenagers.
“One of them body-checked me, like he put his shoulder out and it was purposeful,” Knaster explained, detailing the unexpected aggression.
Initially, he was shoved without provocation, and upon turning to address the situation, he found himself surrounded by the group.
“They were saying horrible things to me and started pushing me around,” Knaster added, depicting the chaotic scene.
The severity of the assault escalated when Knaster was struck on the head with a beer bottle, resulting in him being choked and beaten to the point of losing consciousness and suffering a concussion.
Fortunately, bystanders intervened and called 911, leading to Knaster being transported to the hospital. There, he received four stitches for a laceration that was dangerously close to an artery.
“The cut from the bottle was on an artery, so I lost a lot of blood. There was blood everywhere, which is why I couldn’t see anything,” he stated.
Expressing relief, Aidan’s mother, Charlene Knaster, remarked, “It could have turned out much worse. I’m just very grateful that he’s okay.”
The incident has shaken Knaster’s parents, who reside in New York, as they grapple with the troubling idea that their son was targeted randomly.
“It’s scary and frustrating because you feel helpless; you can’t protect them,” Todd Knaster, Aidan’s father, shared.
Charlene Knaster added, “Kids have to learn that it’s not cool to show off; you could severely harm someone and ruin lives, including your own.”
Boston police have confirmed they are investigating the assault involving five assailants, which was reported at 11:06 PM on Tremont Street.
Aidan Knaster expressed hope for justice, stating, “I hope that the cops find them, and I’m going to press charges if they do find them because that’s not okay.”
Currently, no arrests have been made in connection to the incident.
