Locus Robotics Corp. has recently announced a significant achievement, exceeding 5 billion units picked using its autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) across various global deployments. This milestone was reached only 24 weeks after the company celebrated its 4 billionth pick in October 2024.

According to officials from the Wilmington, Massachusetts-based company, this rapid growth indicates a strong demand for mobile automation technology, as businesses around the world strive to upgrade their fulfillment processes to maintain high productivity levels.

“Achieving 5 billion picks in such a short timeframe signifies a groundbreaking shift in the adoption of mobile automation and physical AI,” remarked Rick Faulk, CEO of Locus Robotics. “Our clients are experiencing unprecedented scaling and efficiency, and we take pride in being their dependable partner during this transformational journey.”

Founded in 2016 as a spinoff from Quiet Logistics, Locus Robotics has developed the LocusONE platform, which leverages artificial intelligence to seamlessly integrate person-to-goods AMRs into existing warehouse environments. This integration enhances efficiency, reduces operational costs, and facilitates the scaling of operations. The AMRs work alongside warehouse staff, significantly decreasing the distance they need to traverse daily.

The company has recently received a 2025 RBR50 Robotics Innovation Award, marking its eighth recognition, in light of the 4 billion robot-assisted picks milestone. Additional insights will be shared at the upcoming RBR50 Gala, part of the Robotics Summit & Expo in Boston next week. Furthermore, Kait Peterson, Locus’ vice president of product marketing, is scheduled to present a session titled “Case Studies: How Automation Is Changing the Warehouse” at the summit.

Locus Robotics AMRs: A Growing Impact

More than 150 prominent brands in retail, e-commerce, healthcare, third-party logistics (3PL), and industrial sectors utilize Locus Robotics technology at over 350 sites globally. A testament to its success, DHL Supply Chain achieved over 500 million picks with Locus’ AMRs in June 2024.

Faulk mentioned that the company keeps meticulous records of each significant achievement, detailing the specific customer sites and items picked for every milestone. The steady increase in pick-rate records underscores the exponential growth trajectory of Locus Robotics.

Through its offerings, including the Locus Origin and Vector systems, the company provides warehouse software on a robotics-as-a-service (RaaS) basis. This model enhances cost efficiency, scalability, and innovation without necessitating extensive capital investment.

Locus’ technology is adept at managing a variety of workflows, including picking, replenishment, sorting, and pack-out, empowering organizations to effectively meet fluctuating demands and adapt to dynamic operational needs.

Continuous Innovation in Warehouse Automation

Locus Robotics is not slowing down. The company recently unveiled its Locus Array mobile picking system, showcased at both the ProMat event in Chicago and LogiMAT in Stuttgart. Designed for environments with high-volume and high-throughput requirements, Array represents a leap forward in fulfillment capabilities.

Faulk emphasized that innovations like Array redefine the possibilities within warehouse automation. “This milestone transcends mere numbers; it reflects our commitment to providing value. We assist some of the world’s leading brands in overcoming significant operational challenges with advanced, proven technology,” he stated.

The company continues to prioritize investment in innovation, focusing on AI-driven fleet orchestration, robotic automation, and applying physical AI solutions to complex logistics and supply chain issues. Recently, Locus introduced the LocusINTELLIGENCE business-intelligence layer within the LocusONE platform to further enhance operational efficiencies.

“Locus Robotics is dedicated to transforming global warehouse operations, making them smarter, faster, more flexible, and efficient than ever before,” the company concluded.
