Lucy Markovic, a prominent figure from “Australia’s Next Top Model,” has tragically passed away after a struggle with a rare brain condition.
An Instagram story, reportedly shared by a family member, confirmed the news of her death. The heartfelt message conveyed, “She was at peace. Me, her mother and my mother were present with her. We ask you please give us space in these hard times.”
Markovic’s talent agency, Elite Model Management, expressed their condolences in a public statement, highlighting her courageous fight against arteriovenous malformation (AVM) in the brain — a condition characterized by a tangled network of blood vessels that disrupt normal blood flow between arteries and veins.
Reports indicate that Markovic had recently shared news of undergoing surgical intervention for a malformation described as being “the size of a golf ball,” alongside experiencing seizures, in a social media post that has since been deleted.
Her agency elaborated on her vibrant personality, describing her as a “bright shining light” with an “incredible dry sense of humor.” They remembered her as someone whose “smile and laughter could light up a room, drawing people closer to her. She loved to dance, and she truly shined.”
Gaining widespread recognition at a young age, Lucy was a runner-up on the ninth season of “Australia’s Next Top Model” in 2015. This pivotal experience propelled her career, leading her to represent esteemed brands such as Versace and Victoria Beckham, and to grace the runways for illustrious designers including Dolce & Gabbana, Oscar de la Renta, and Givenchy.
Her untimely passing at the age of 27 has left a profound impact on those who knew her and admired her work.
Rest in peace, Lucy.
