The widely recognized “twerkers” emote created by popular streamer Ludwig has been removed from Twitch, sparking a strong reaction from the content creator.
Emotes play a crucial role on Twitch, serving as a form of expression for viewers and a way for streamers to connect with their audiences. These icons are integral to the community and often encapsulate a variety of memes and inside jokes that evolve over time.
For newcomers to the platform, navigating the myriad of emote references can be a challenge, as established creators like Ludwig frequently introduce emblematic images that capture their streaming style and humor.
Ludwig announced on X, previously known as Twitter, that Twitch had officially taken down his widely circulated “twerkers” emote, expressing his disappointment and frustration with the platform’s direction.
Ludwig’s Anger Over Twitch’s Emote Removal
In his announcement, Ludwig shared the notification he received from Twitch, which discussed the removal of his emote.
The message conveyed by Twitch stated, “Based on a review of its content, we have removed your emote ‘ludwigTwerkers’ from Twitch.”
Known for his vocal criticisms of streaming platforms, Ludwig described the action as “tyranny in its most potent form,” emphasizing his discontent with Twitch’s decision.
As a result, users will no longer have access to the twerkers emote, effectively eliminating its use within Twitch chats and other interactions.
This incident is part of a broader pattern, as other emotes have also faced removal due to violations of Twitch’s content policies, including a recent case involving a Pokémon-themed emote deemed inappropriate.
