Maheep Kapoor Shares Shanaya’s Distress Over Shelved Film
Shanaya Kapoor, daughter of actor Sanjay Kapoor, was anticipating her Bollywood debut in the film Bedhadak, produced by Karan Johar. However, the film, which was initially announced in 2022, faced an unfortunate halt when it was shelved. Recently, on the show Fabulous Lives Vs Bollywood Wives, her mother Maheep Kapoor disclosed the emotional impact this decision had on Shanaya.
During her conversation with Karan Johar, Maheep opened up about her daughter’s reaction, describing how deeply affected Shanaya was when she learned that Bedhadak would no longer proceed. Maheep noted the significant sadness her daughter experienced, prompting Karan to step in during that difficult time. She emphasized that the situation left Shanaya feeling “traumatized.”
Furthermore, Maheep discussed the personal challenges she faced during the pandemic, including her diagnosis of diabetes. She recounted the immense stress she was under as she navigated her family’s health issues, stating, “I was going through my own madness in my head. We all fell like nine pins.” This tumultuous period was compounded by the death of their house help Rekha and concerns about her mother’s health, which compounded her emotional struggles.
The episode also provided insight into the tensions between Maheep and fellow friend Seema Sajdeh. The two had a candid discussion about their evolving relationship, with Seema expressing feelings of disappointment over what she perceived as Maheep’s lack of support during a time when she thought she needed it. Seema articulated, “I didn’t need her to be there for me at that point… I needed to be there for her, and she didn’t allow it.”
In a lighter moment later in the series, Shanaya appeared alongside her mother, Khushi Kapoor, and her brother Jahaan. At dinner, she shared her excitement about returning to work, exclaiming her gratitude for her pet dog Pablo and her eagerness to start filming again. “I am looking forward to start a shoot again,” she said, expressing optimism despite the setbacks she faced.
Shanaya’s journey to her Bollywood debut was meant to be in Bedhadak, directed by Shashank Khaitan, where she was set to star alongside Gurfateh Pirzada and Lakshya. With the shelving of the film, she has now pivoted to making her debut in the Telugu-Malayalam film Vrushabha, co-starring with Mohanlal.
