Malika Andrews and Dave McMenamin Celebrate Their Love in a Bay Area Wedding

“Now, instead of saying, ‘Look, we are going to get married there,’ we can say, ‘Look! That’s where we got married,’” shares Malika Andrews, reflecting on her recent wedding at Cavallo Point, a scenic national park nestled at the base of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. “We are so lucky.”

For Malika and her partner, Dave McMenamin, who reside in Los Angeles, the decision on where to host their wedding was straightforward. “We always knew we wanted to get married in the Bay Area, where Malika is from,” Dave explains. “Our first visit to Cavallo Point felt like the perfect fit.”

The wedding weekend was rich with personal touches and symbols that celebrated their unique backgrounds. The couple hosted their rehearsal dinner at Sociale, a sentimental site where Malika’s grandfather enjoyed his first date. To honor Dave’s educational roots, they served Syracuse Spritzes at the reception, which referenced his time at Syracuse University. Both professionals in the world of sports—Malika serving as a prominent host for ESPN’s NBA Today and NBA Countdown, while Dave covers the NBA as a reporter for the same network—the wedding incorporated numerous athletic nods. A particularly whimsical feature was a beautifully decorated yet fully functional basketball hoop set up at the reception, a playful reminder of their first encounter in 2017 when they covered a Knicks versus Cavaliers game at Madison Square Garden. Their connection blossomed into victory from that moment on.

The couple exchanged vows on August 24 at Cavallo Point Lodge, a luxurious resort with breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge. “We were engaged for 21 months, giving us ample time to plan,” says Dave, noting that they opted to schedule their wedding for a time that allowed for two NBA offseasons. “Leading up to the wedding, people often asked if we were feeling stressed about the day, but honestly, we never were,” adds Malika.

The wedding festivities kicked off with a Friday night rehearsal dinner, where Malika donned a strapless yellow midi dress adorned with colorful floral embroidery by Amsale, perfectly aligned with the sunset-colored cocktail attire theme. The following day, she adhered to the sentimental tradition of “something borrowed” by wearing her mother’s wedding day dressing gown from 1992 as she prepared for her own special day. Her bouquet, a delicate arrangement of pastel-hued roses, was elegantly wrapped in a cherished handkerchief belonging to her late grandmother.
