Tragic Murder-Suicide in Las Vegas Valley
LAS VEGAS — A heartbreaking incident in the central part of Las Vegas has resulted in the deaths of a man and a woman, following what authorities are describing as a murder-suicide. The event unfolded on Saturday evening at a residence located in the 700 block of Bruce Street, near the intersection of Bonanza Road and Maryland Parkway.
At approximately 5:20 p.m., local police received reports of a woman who had been shot. Upon their arrival at the scene, officers reported hearing an additional gunshot emanating from inside the home.
Upon entering, officers discovered both victims suffering from gunshot wounds. The male victim was pronounced dead on-site, while the female victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was later declared deceased.
Investigations revealed that the couple had recently ended a long-term relationship, and the woman had brought their children over for a scheduled visitation. Unfortunately, an argument broke out during this time, during which the man allegedly shot the woman before taking his own life as police arrived.
Fortunately, the children were unharmed during this tragic series of events.
Lieutenant Robert Price of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department expressed his condolences regarding the incident, emphasizing the importance of seeking help in situations involving domestic violence. “This is a very tragic, tragic event. We encourage anyone who has any type of domestic violence issues to reach out to support services, the Family Justice Center. It does not have to end like this,” he remarked.
If you or someone you know is facing domestic violence, assistance is accessible through the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) or the Domestic Violence Resource Center at 775-329-4150.
