A 38-year-old individual was victimized while attempting to sell his Charizard Pokemon card, a collectible valued at approximately $5,000.
The holographic Charizard card, which captured the imagination of many fans back in 1999, continues to be highly sought-after today.
While this particular card wasn’t among the rarest—like the PSA 10 shadowless first edition that sold for an astounding $420,000—a man in Australia hoped for a successful trade with his PSA 9 Charizard but faced unfortunate consequences.
As reported by ABC, the victim arranged to meet someone at a parking lot at 10:45 PM on March 28 for the exchange, but was assaulted instead.

Kotaku reported that during the meeting, the seller was attacked, and the collectible was forcibly taken from him.
The New South Wales Police Department communicated the incident via social media, using playful references to the Pokemon universe, alongside sharing a blurry image of a vehicle that was observed departing the area.
“Turns out Team Rocket’s not the only group causing chaos,” they remarked, adding, “We are seeking information about a red 2023 Ford Mustang with gray stripes, which might assist us in solving this case.”
The police urged those who may have details about the incident to come forward, stating, “Don’t just lay around like a Snorlax—please contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.”
The origins of the photo depicting the vehicle remain unclear, leaving investigators with limited leads.
This incident is part of a troubling trend; earlier in 2022, a man in France was assaulted at gunpoint during a similar transaction, resulting in the theft of his Pokemon card collection valued at $15,000.
