Man Arrested for Theft of Apple Products at Orange County Mall
An Illinois man was apprehended after being found in possession of thousands of dollars worth of stolen Apple merchandise at a mall in Orange County.
The individual, identified as 30-year-old Malcolm Walker, was observed at the Apple store located in the Spectrum Center mall in Irvine. Reports indicate that he managed to take approximately $1,200 in merchandise, which he concealed within a shopping bag he had brought to the store.
Loss prevention staff at the store intervened and held Walker until law enforcement arrived at the scene.
Upon examining Walker’s vehicle, officers uncovered additional stolen Apple products valued at over $5,000, including 15 wireless keyboards and three Apple Pencil Pros. Authorities confirmed that these items had been taken from various Apple retail locations across Southern California.
In light of recent legislative changes with the implementation of Proposition 36, Walker faces multiple charges, including burglary, theft with prior convictions, and possession of stolen property.
Walker has since been booked into the Orange County Jail with heightened bail requirements.
The Irvine Police Department expressed gratitude for the collaboration with Apple Loss Prevention and Spectrum Security, acknowledging their efforts in handling the situation effectively.
