Emergency Alert Issued at Illinois State University Following Gunfire
An emergency alert was activated at Illinois State University as campus police conducted a search for an individual involved in a firearm-related incident.
The university issued a warning noting that there has been “one reported victim.” The alert specifically instructed individuals to “stay away from Bone.”
Authorities described the suspect as a “slender black male, 5’10”, with an afro hairstyle, dressed in all black.” Reports indicate that the suspect was last seen “running south from University and College Streets.”

On Sunday evening, the ISU Emergency Alert was disseminated following reports of shots fired at the student center. Officials emphasized the need for caution and advised people to “stay away from University and Locust St. and from Bone Student Center” while they worked to secure the area.
The alert indicated that the suspect “may be armed and dangerous,” presenting a potential immediate threat to the community.
