After the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, Manoj Muntashir demands strong action from PM Modi.
The recent terrorist assault in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, has drawn significant condemnation and concern, particularly from renowned lyricist and screenwriter Manoj Muntashir. The attack resulted in the tragic deaths of at least 26 individuals, with many others sustaining injuries. In response to this horrific event, Muntashir expressed his deep sorrow and anger, taking to X (formerly Twitter) to demand that Prime Minister Narendra Modi respond with firm measures. He held the Pakistani military accountable, asserting that the roots of terrorism extend beyond just the acts themselves.
In a heartfelt video message, Muntashir conveyed his reluctance to speak publicly, but felt compelled to address the pervasive grief and fear that has taken hold of the nation. He cautioned, “Perhaps this time, it wasn’t your loved one who was lost. But how long can you remain untouched? Anywhere in India, from Kashmir to Kolkata or Delhi to Muzaffarnagar, danger is ever-present. If you accept victimhood instead of standing strong, be ready for dire consequences,” he expressed in Hindi.
Muntashir recounted a particularly harrowing incident involving Manjunath Shivam, a resident of Karnataka, who was reportedly tortured and murdered in front of his wife. “When Pallavi begged for her life alongside her husband’s, the attackers responded, ‘We won’t harm you. Just go and tell Modi,’” he recounted, emphasizing the chilling message conveyed by the perpetrators.
He then made a poignant appeal to the Prime Minister, stating, “We will indeed tell Modi. You are the guiding figure of this nation, representing millions. Your children have been lost, and your daughters left without husbands. Mothers mourn their sons at your threshold.”
Muntashir went on to advocate for a more aggressive military posture, insisting that the Line of Control should be “activated,” and that India ought to take decisive action in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). He stressed, “India ranks as the fourth-largest military force globally. If we choose silence now, what legacy will we leave for those who come after us? History remembers those who conquer, not those who perish.”
In concluding his stirring address, Muntashir reiterated the ominous words reportedly directed at him by the terrorists: “Our assassins instructed one of our loved ones, ‘Go and tell Modi.’ We have conveyed this message, sir. Now the ball is in your court.”
