Marc Marquez Dominates at the Argentina Grand Prix

Marc Marquez continued his remarkable start to the 2025 MotoGP season by clinching victory at the Argentina Grand Prix held at Termas de Rio Hondo on Sunday, marking his fourth consecutive win.

The six-time world champion faced stiffer competition this time, briefly losing the lead to his brother Alex Marquez during the middle stages of the race after an apparent miscalculation on his part. However, Marquez managed to reclaim the top position with just four laps remaining, ensuring Alex maintained his streak of second-place finishes for the year.

Francesco Bagnaia, who has had a lackluster start to the season, was unable to secure a fourth straight third-place finish. Instead, it was Franco Morbidelli, riding the 2024 VR46 Ducati, who claimed the final podium spot, leaving Bagnaia to finish fourth on his factory Ducati bike.

The race commenced in warmer conditions compared to the previous day’s sprint, yet the initial outcome remained consistent: Marc Marquez surged ahead, followed closely by Alex Marquez, with Bagnaia settling into third after Johann Zarco’s disappointing start from the front row. Behind them, Marco Bezzecchi encountered difficulties, losing control and ending up in the gravel trap, which also affected Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo, though he managed to recover and continue from the back of the pack.

Despite a poor start, Zarco quickly mitigated damage by only dropping one position, positioning himself behind Bagnaia and attempting several overtakes that ultimately did not succeed. Both riders soon found themselves overtaken by Morbidelli, who opted for a softer rear tire and began to gain traction as the race progressed. By lap five, Morbidelli had seized the coveted third position.

Morbidelli expertly managed his tires throughout the race, achieving his first podium finish since the 2021 Spanish Grand Prix. Meanwhile, Bagnaia struggled to close the gap and was unable to mount any serious challenge for the podium placement.

Lap four was pivotal, as Alex Marquez capitalized on a mistake by Marc, who overshot the first corner. Alex established a lead that he maintained for several laps, although Marc remained close behind, indicating that he was biding his time for a stronger attempt to regain the lead.

Marc initiated his first notable challenge to retake the lead on lap 18, but misjudged his braking at Turn 5, forcing him to regroup. However, four laps later, he successfully overtook Alex on the main straight, swiftly asserting his dominance in the latter part of the race.

By lap 24, Marc’s lead had expanded to over a second, and he confidently maintained that advantage until the finish line, ultimately crossing ahead of his brother by 1.362 seconds. This victory further solidified his position in the championship standings, giving him a 16-point lead.

Morbidelli finished third, with Bagnaia closely behind in fourth. The second VR46 rider, Fabio di Giannantonio, made an impressive late surge to secure fifth place, overtaking Zarco right at the end of the race.

Brad Binder drove a steady race on his KTM, achieving seventh place, while rookie Ai Ogura showcased his skills by taking eighth after starting from 15th on the grid. The battle for ninth culminated in a head-to-head contest between Pedro Acosta (KTM) and Joan Mir (Honda), with Acosta narrowly emerging victorious.
