Marc Marquez claimed his fifth consecutive sprint race victory in 2025 while riding for the factory Ducati team, demonstrating his continuing dominance in the MotoGP series.
Fabio Quartararo, who started from pole position, initially took the lead but quickly succumbed to Marquez’s challenge halfway through the second lap.
The rest of the race saw Ducati riders sweeping the top six positions, showcasing the brand’s impressive performance with all six of its bikes finishing in the points.
Alex Marquez from Gresini Ducati secured second place, while Francesco Bagnaia, riding the second factory bike, finished third. This result solidified their status in the championship standings, with Marquez now leading Alex by 20 points.
The excitement of the sprint mainly unfolded in the first lap and a half. After a slower start, Marquez quickly closed the gap to Quartararo, who was able to retake the lead briefly. However, Marquez regained control by the second lap, overtaking Quartararo before entering the hairpin at Pedrosa.
Although Quartararo attempted to maintain his pace on the outside line, he ultimately lost control, crashing out of the race. This incident left Marquez with a comfortable lead over his brother, Alex, who could not mount a significant challenge for the rest of the race.
Bagnaia, despite a promising start, was unable to threaten Alex and settled for third, showing improvement from his previous sprint outing in Qatar.
Franco Morbidelli of VR46 Ducati briefly overtook Bagnaia early on but couldn’t sustain the lead, finishing behind him for the remainder of the race.
Following Bagnaia was Fermin Aldeguer from Gresini, who fended off early pressure before securing fifth place, while Maverick Vinales finished seventh, claiming the top spot among non-Ducati riders.
Marco Bezzecchi of Aprilia and Joan Mir of Honda rounded out the last two scoring positions, highlighting the strong performance from the Ducati lineup. Unfortunately for Yamaha, who secured pole position, they ended the sprint without any points in the riders’ championship.
