Mark Hoppus to Launch Book Tour with ‘Fahrenheit-182’

Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus is set to embark on a book tour starting this April, shifting the focus from music to literature with the promotion of his memoir.

The iconic bassist and vocalist of the renowned California pop-punk band revealed in late 2024 that his memoir, Fahrenheit-182, will be released on April 8. Co-written with Los Angeles-based journalist Dan Ozzi, the book offers a comprehensive exploration of Hoppus’ life, beginning with his childhood in the ’80s and tracing his deep-seated passion for punk rock, skateboarding, and MTV, ultimately leading to his role in founding Blink-182 in August 1992.

A synopsis of the memoir highlights its personal narrative, entwined with themes of anxiety and Hoppus’ public fight against cancer. It promises to be an engaging and humorous account, appealing to readers who appreciate the resilience of those who confront challenges while maintaining their sense of humor.

In his own words, Hoppus described the book as having “everything”—from his journey as a young man in Southern California to joining a punk band and achieving global fame. “It’s got skateboarding! It’s got punk rock clubs! It’s got ’90s music!” he exclaimed in a promotional video. He added a candid touch, mentioning the darker elements of his story, including anxiety, depression, and his battle with cancer, remarking, “This shit gets dark.”

Hoppus’ upcoming tour comprises seven events where he will engage in discussions about the memoir accompanied by a host. The series kicks off in New York City on April 9, with additional stops in Somerville, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and Chicago, concluding with two performances in California—El Cajon and Los Angeles.

Tickets for the tour went on sale on February 21, with Hoppus encouraging fans to purchase them promptly to ensure they do not “miss out on all the small things.”

This book tour follows an eventful period for Blink-182, who recently completed extensive touring in support of their ninth studio album, One More Time…. This album marked the band’s third number-one album on the Billboard 200 and was notable for featuring the return of co-founding guitarist and vocalist Tom DeLonge, after a seven-year hiatus from the group.

Additionally, Hoppus made headlines by announcing the auction of a rare Banksy artwork that he obtained in 2011. The piece is slated to be sold at Sotheby’s in London on March 4, with estimates placing its value up to $6.3 million.
