Players of Marvel Rivals are expressing considerable dissatisfaction following a recent patch that has rendered a specific Vanguard hero, Peni Parker, challenging to play effectively.
Marvel Rivals features a diverse lineup of heroes, each endowed with distinctive abilities and Team-Ups. In a manner typical of multiplayer shooters, developers frequently implement balance adjustments, resulting in various heroes being buffed, nerfed, or modified.
The March 13 update specifically impacted Peni Parker. The patch notes indicated that the developers introduced two key bug fixes, one of which altered the behavior of her Arachno-Mines, making them persistently visible even when landing outside her webbing.
While the intention behind this change was to eliminate an exploit, players have noted that it has inadvertently compromised the functionality of her mines, diminishing their effectiveness significantly.
Community Calls for Restoration of Peni Parker’s Mines
While it is understandable that the developers aimed to address the mine exploit, many players believe that the adjustment has gone too far. Following the changes, players observed that Peni Parker’s mines have become significantly easier to destroy and now demonstrate a pronounced delay before disappearing beneath her web.
Consequently, heroes relying on melee combat can now approach Peni Parker without fear, as her mines fail to provide substantial deterrence, frequently being lost in the fray. This shift has prompted negative reactions from the player community, as reflected in numerous Reddit discussions.
One player pleaded with developers, stating, “NetEase, please revert or fix the Peni Parker mine changes,” elaborating that the current setup prevents mines from being effectively deployed under supporting abilities or in intense gunfight situations.
Another commenter expressed support for addressing exploits but cautioned against fixes that overly compromise a character’s capabilities: “Please find another solution to ensure Peni’s mines are visible outside of her webs without hampering her effectiveness.”
Many users chimed in, sharing similar frustrations. “This needs urgent attention. Peni’s mines were already manageable to avoid,” one player remarked.
Another player reported that they had tested the mines and found it surprisingly simple for any character to deactivate them while under invincibility by repeatedly meleeing or firing at the ground.
“She’s set to become unplayable once players fully adapt to this change. Even those unaware will activate this scenario frequently by mistake,” sighed a concerned player.
Expressions of disappointment culminated in comments like, “It’s no surprise Peni is feeling ineffective. She was already an average character, but now she feels practically obsolete.”
