Ogunquit Playhouse, located in Maine, has revealed the cast and creative team for its upcoming production of Come From Away, featuring Mary Kate Morrissey among others. The performances are set to commence on May 15 and will run for a limited engagement until June 14, 2025.

The talented cast includes Hashini Amarasinghe, known for her role in Elon University’s Spring Awakening, as Janice; Kyle Nicholas Anderson from the National Tour of Something Rotten as Kevin T/Garth; and Isaiah Bailey, who has appeared in the National Tour of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, as Bob/Muhumuza. Other notable performers include David Benoit (Les Misérables National Tour) as Claude, Dayna Jarae Dantzler (Broadway’s Waitress) as Hannah/Muhumuza’s Wife, and John El-Jor, emerging from the upcoming film adaptation of Mean Girls, as Kevin J/Ali.

Bradford Kenney, the artistic director, expressed excitement for the season’s opening, stating, “I am eagerly counting down the days to May 15, marking the start of Ogunquit Playhouse’s 93rd season and my 20th with this beloved musical. This new interpretation by original Broadway team member Richard J. Hinds is particularly special.” Kenney emphasized the message of the musical, highlighting how it illustrates the profound impact of kindness and generosity during difficult times.

Come From Away features a book, music, and lyrics by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, with direction and choreography by Richard J. Hinds, who previously worked on Escape to Margaritaville. The production will also showcase contributions from Associate Director/Choreographer Elyn Collier, orchestrations by August Eriksmoen, arrangements by Ian Eisendrath, and music direction by Sam Grossier.

The scenic design, crafted by Nate Bertone, and the costume design by Michelle J. Li will help bring the vibrant story to life, complemented by lighting design from Richard Latta and sound design by Kevin Heard. The Production Stage Manager is Patricia L. Grabb, with casting handled by ARC.

At its core, Come From Away is a poignant narrative about the 7,000 passengers stranded in Newfoundland following the 9/11 attacks and the kindness of local inhabitants who opened their homes to support them. The musical has been acclaimed for its ability to turn themes of cultural clash and fear into stories of trust and lasting friendships, underscored by its dynamic score.

Come From Away is produced through a special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI), which supplies all authorized performance materials. For further details, visit www.mtishows.com.

Additionally, open captioning will be offered for all performances from June 4 to June 8, enhancing accessibility for all audience members.
