89th Masters Tournament Begins in Augusta
As the historic Masters Tournament kicks off in Augusta, Georgia, former PGA Tour golfer Jerry Pate, a two-time top-five finisher at this illustrious event, shared his insights and predictions on ‘Fox & Friends First’.
This week marked a significant moment for Justin Thomas, who reignited his aspirations for his first coveted green jacket.
However, the two-time PGA Championship titleholder drew attention for his candid remarks made during the first round at the Masters. At the eighth hole—known for its beauty as Yellow Jasmine—Thomas’ tee shot prompted an expletive-laden response.

After successfully putting for a birdie on the 16th hole, Justin Thomas experienced a frustrating moment when his tee shot went awry, which was caught by microphones stationed across the pristine Augusta National course. He was overheard exclaiming, “F— heeled it… damn it.”
His moment of setback came just a day after a spirited appearance during the Par 3 Contest, where Thomas shared his enjoyment of the day spent with his daughter and families of fellow golfers Jordan Spieth and Max Homa. On social media, he described the event as “an amazing day” full of cherished memories.

In an Instagram post, Thomas reflected on the Par 3 Contest, stating, “The par 3 contest @themasters was a little different today than past years! An amazing day with my girls, the Spieths, and the Homa crew. Incredible memories we will cherish forever. Prep work is done, it’s time to get after it.”
As he approached the 18th hole on Thursday, Thomas found himself one shot over par, placing him in a tie for 38th position. This marked an ongoing struggle for the golfer, who did not make the cut at the Masters in 2023 and 2024. His best finish occurred in 2020 when he concluded the tournament in fourth place.
Beyond the Masters, Thomas also excelled with a top-10 finish at the U.S. Open in 2020, and he has secured PGA Championship victories in 2017 and 2022.
