Min Woo Lee Penalized at The Masters, Hampering Title Hopes
Min Woo Lee’s aspirations for an outstanding victory at the Masters Championship in Augusta National faced a setback when he was handed a penalty during the tournament. The golfer was assessed a one-stroke penalty after officials concluded that he had caused his ball to move on the 13th hole.
After observing that his ball had shifted, Lee sought the advice of an official, who determined that his actions in proximity to the ball had indeed prompted its movement.
During the third round on April 12, 2025, Lee scored a 77, which positioned him among the bottom of the leaderboard alongside players such as Justin Thomas and J.J. Spaun.
The 26-year-old Australian entered the Masters on the heels of a notable triumph at the Texas Children’s Houston Open, where he ended at an impressive 20-under par, finishing just one stroke ahead of prominent contenders Scottie Scheffler and Gary Woodland.
