Pinfield, who previously served as Vice President of A&R at Columbia Records and has hosted various radio shows for the last two decades—most recently co-presenting The Power Hour on AXS TV—endured his stroke on January 6. He is preparing for his first significant public event since the incident, where he will host a ceremony honoring Green Day as they receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
After a brief hiatus from social media, Pinfield shared an update about his healing journey ahead of the May 1 ceremony. He expressed, “Slowly but surely recovering… lots of physical therapy… Fighting my way back!! One day at a time.”
In early March, Pinfield disclosed details about his condition, revealing he had been in a coma and intensive care unit after the stroke. “I’m recovering and am going to come back swinging,” he stated in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “I was unresponsive for two months. Friends thought they were coming to say goodbye. Doctors had low expectations for my recovery.”
While he acknowledged the long road to full recovery ahead, Pinfield also conveyed his intent to return to radio hosting soon. He expressed deep gratitude to his eldest daughter Jessica, who took on conservatorship of his medical and financial decisions during his recovery, saying, “She’s the one who saved my life. She protected me.”
For the Hollywood Walk of Fame event, Pinfield will join tennis icon Serena Williams and actor Ryan Reynolds, who are also scheduled as guest speakers.
The star honoring Green Day is located at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard, conveniently situated next to Amoeba Music. The ceremony will be streamed live on the Walk of Fame’s website. This event marks the 2,810th star ceremony since the iconic location was established in 1960.
