Maverick City Music Achieves Major Milestones in Gospel and Christian Music Charts
Maverick City Music has made impressive strides in the music industry with the release of their latest project, Live at Maverick City. This album has not only secured the top spot on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart but has also claimed the second position on the Top Christian Albums chart as of February 22.
During its debut week, the 36-track album garnered 5,000 equivalent album units in the U.S., according to data from Luminate, marking a successful launch for the Atlanta-based Christian and gospel music group.
Founded in 2018, Maverick City Music recorded a significant portion of this album at Houston’s Toyota Center in December. The album features noteworthy collaborations with artists such as Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Chandler Moore, Jordin Sparks, and Naomi Watts, showcasing the collective’s diverse musical connections.
This latest chart achievement is particularly significant for Maverick City Music, as it marks their first time leading the Top Gospel Albums chart since the release of The Maverick Way Complete: Complete Vol 02, which enjoyed an impressive 18-week run at the top position starting in November 2023. Live at Maverick City now takes the lead from that collection.
Breaking Records in Gospel Airplay
Allen & Armstrong Lead
In other notable news, Nia Allen and Jor’Dan Armstrong have ascended to No. 1 on the Gospel Airplay chart with their single “Sunshine.” The song experienced an 18% increase in airplay during the tracking week, showcasing its growing popularity.
The collaboration, co-authored by Allen, Armstrong, and producer Kortez Harris, has propelled Allen to her second No. 1 on the Gospel Airplay chart. Her previous hit, “Wait,” topped the charts for a week in May 2021, and since then, she has continued to establish herself with three top 10 hits.
Armstrong, a Baton Rouge native, is celebrating his fourth consecutive No. 1 on the Gospel Airplay chart. His successful streak includes hits like “You,” which topped the charts last April, “Call” featuring Erica Campbell, and “My God.”
These milestones demonstrate the rising influence and popularity of Maverick City Music and their collaborators in the gospel and Christian music scene, reflecting a growing trend in contemporary worship and spiritual music. As these artists continue to innovate and inspire, they are poised to make lasting impacts in the industry.
