About MAYBE HAPPY ENDING

This innovative romantic musical comedy weaves a whimsical narrative about two outcasts approaching the twilight of their existences, revealing that even robots can experience the enchantment of love.

With direction by Tony Award winner Michael Arden and striking scenic design by Dane Laffrey, this Richard Rodgers Award-winning musical features a book, music, and lyrics from the gifted songwriting team of Will Aronson and Hue Park. Set in a cozy one-room apartment in the bustling heart of Seoul, the story revolves around Oliver, a Helperbot 3 robot, who lives a serene life filled with jazz records and nurturing his beloved plant. However, the arrival of his neighbor Claire, another Helperbot seeking a charger, sparks an unexpected connection that blossoms into friendship, adventure, and potentially…love.

Before making its Broadway debut, this one-act musical premiered in 2016 at Lifeway Hall in DCF Daemyung Cultural Factory in Seoul, South Korea. Having enjoyed performances across Japan, China, and Atlanta, it garnered the prestigious Korean Musical Award for Musical of the Year in 2019. Originally titled What I Learned From People, the show has been performed in both Korean and English and was part of the Wooran Cultural Foundation’s inaugural overseas development project, featuring workshops held in New York City in 2016.
