Formula 1 Fantasy Insights: Jeddah Race Preview
As the 2025 Formula 1 season progresses, Oscar Piastri has made headlines by clinching victory in two out of the last three grands prix. However, his McLaren teammate Lando Norris remains at the forefront of F1 Fantasy points, showcasing a consistent performance in the league.
The recent win in Bahrain positions Piastri as a noteworthy contender for the upcoming race in Jeddah this Sunday. With a price tag of $23.4 million, he presents a more economical choice compared to Norris, who costs $30 million. The F1 Fantasy algorithm has designated Norris and Piastri as the second and third most valuable drivers, respectively, yet neither can rival the offerings of Oliver Bearman from Haas, who has been exceptionally impressive this season.
Bearing remarkable performance in his last three races, Bearman stands out as the leading value driver in the F1 Fantasy landscape. Currently possessed by 53% of participants—just shy of Isack Hadjar—Bearman has experienced a valuation increase of $1.2 million since the season commenced.
In anticipation of this weekend’s race, esteemed F1 journalists from the Racing Our Writers league, Filip Cleeran and Mark Mann-Bryans, share their strategies for optimizing their Fantasy teams.
Filip Cleeran’s Strategy
Filip Cleeran, an F1 reporter for Motorsport, reflects on his recent team adjustments: “After swapping Norris for Piastri, I found success in Bahrain. While I believe Norris will regain his form with the 2025 McLaren, Piastri’s lower cost makes him an appealing choice.”
He continues, “Filling in the remaining slots has proven challenging due to budget limitations. Given Jeddah’s distinct track layout compared to Bahrain, I’m opting for a balanced approach instead of investing heavily in Racing Bulls. That’s why I’ve transitioned from Alex Albon to his Williams teammate Carlos Sainz, allowing me to retain Pierre Gasly while adding Esteban Ocon.”
Cleeran concludes, “I’ve decided to keep Hadjar, and I’ve gone with Haas as my second constructor to diversify my midfield lineup.”
Mark Mann-Bryans’ Insights
Mark Mann-Bryans, an F1 business correspondent at Autosport, notes his struggles in the recent rounds: “I’ve slipped significantly in point scoring after starting strong, well done to Filip.”
Despite this, he expresses confidence in Norris: “I’m sticking with him for this race as I feel he’s eager to prove his worth and silence any doubts. While Piastri has been in top form, I expect Norris to emerge victorious this Sunday.”
Regarding team adjustments, Mann-Bryans shares, “I’ve let go of Fernando Alonso since he’s been unable to harness the potential of the 2025 Aston Martin. Instead, I’ve brought in the rising star Bearman. I’ve also switched out Racing Bulls for Alpine as my constructor, although my choice of Sauber as a second team is becoming increasingly worrisome.”
