Meghan Markle Discusses New Ventures and Family Life in Recent Interview
Meghan Markle is featured in the latest edition of People magazine, where she shares insights into her lifestyle brand, As Ever, which has undergone a significant transformation from its original name, American Rivera Orchard.
The rebranding was necessitated by copyright challenges that prompted Markle to rethink the brand’s identity. Reflecting on the changes, Markle stated, “There are tons of twists and turns — even with the name. I was figuring it out in real time.” She expressed gratitude for the patience shown to her during this process: “I appreciate everyone who gave me the grace to make mistakes and figure it out and also to be forgiving with myself through that. It’s a learning curve.”
Returning to Instagram after a hiatus, Markle is eager to embrace her role as an entrepreneur, emphasizing her aspirations for the brand’s influence, saying, “I see myself as an entrepreneur and a female founder and if the brand ends up influential, then that’s great.”
Markle reminisced about her earlier venture, The Tig, a blog she launched a decade ago that explored themes of food, travel, and wellness. Following her engagement to Prince Harry in 2017, she closed The Tig, acknowledging, “I loved The Tig, but I certainly love my husband more. So that was a choice I made at the time, and I wouldn’t change that for a second.”
Her passion for The Tig is now being channeled into As Ever and her Netflix show, “With Love, Meghan.” She noted the joy in revisiting her creative roots, sharing, “My husband met me when I had The Tig, and I see this spark in his eye when he sees me doing the thing that I was doing when he first met me.” She remarked on the revitalizing effect this process has had on their relationship: “It’s almost like a honeymoon period again.”
While her acting career, notably as Rachel Zane in the long-running series “Suits,” still resonates with fans, Markle expressed enthusiasm over the show’s revival through “Suits L.A.” Though it remains uncertain whether she will return to acting, she appreciates the opportunity for the series to be reintroduced to a new audience, stating, “I love that it gets a new breath of fresh air.”
Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, the couple has chosen to keep their royal titles, which Markle finds particularly meaningful as a family. She reflects, “It’s our shared name as a family… I love that that is something that Archie, Lili, H and I all have together.”
Settling in Montecito, California, Meghan shared her experiences of family life in the celebrity enclave. She expressed a desire for normalcy for her children, saying, “Once you know us, I think you want us to have the same normalcy as parents and for our children as they do, despite however unique our situation is.” Despite the public attention, Markle is committed to maintaining a sense of ordinary family activities. “We go to a lot of dinners… I really love that we can just have fun,” she added.
As parents to Archie and Lilibet, both still young at 5 and 3 years old, Markle described the joy of evolving family interactions: “When your children get to a certain age… it’s super joyful.” The imagery on her brand’s website encapsulates this sentiment, featuring a touching photo of her with Lilibet, which signifies the multigenerational legacy she aims to create through her work as a mother and entrepreneur.
Describing her daily routine, Markle stated, “I’m up before my kids are, so I’m normally up at 6:30, and then I get them up and dressed for the day, and we go downstairs. I love making breakfast for my family.”
She has chosen to film her Netflix series in a setting reminiscent of their home, aiming to protect their family’s sanctuary. “We’re a close-knit family, and I love those moments,” she said, emphasizing how important it is to have shared family times amidst a busy production environment.
During the filming, Harry and their children would visit her on set, which allowed Markle to demonstrate the work-life balance to her kids. “I loved that my children were able to watch me working and see the balance,” she noted, expressing hopes that her children would take pride in their involvement in her early career endeavors.
Looking to the future, Markle expressed optimism and excitement: “Can you imagine? This is just the beginning. Life is full of surprises. And my gosh, in 10 years, Archie will be driving!”
