The Rise of Padel: Miami’s First Floating Court
As pickleball continues to capture attention, an exciting newcomer has emerged in the world of racket sports: padel. This chic sport is rapidly gaining popularity, and what could be more appealing than playing it on a floating court amid the stunning waters of Miami?
Under the leadership of CEO Felipe MacLean, the Florida-based luxury investment firm Yntegra Group has introduced the city’s inaugural floating padel court, strategically positioned off Fisher Island.
This innovative court, weighing 84 tons, is constructed from recycled steel retrieved from old shipyard materials, showcasing a commitment to sustainability. Notably, the court operates without engines or batteries, repurposing materials that have previously served maritime functions. Surrounding glass walls offer breathtaking 360-degree views of the vibrant sea and Miami skyline, creating an exclusive venue for enthusiasts to master their game.
Yntegra Group highlighted the installation in a press release, stating, “As demand for ultra-luxury experiences soars, this sustainable, design-forward installation exemplifies Yntegra’s commitment to innovation.”
Beyond simply providing a unique venue for padel, the floating court also offers insight into Yntegra Group’s forward-thinking design and innovation strategies, particularly relevant to their forthcoming development in the Exumas.
Located on 365 acres across two private islands, the group’s ambitious project in the Bahamas will feature a luxury destination alongside a fully serviced superyacht marina. A key aspect of this venture is the 33-suite Rosewood Exuma, which will be situated on a 124-acre private island, anticipated to open in 2028. Sustainability remains a cornerstone of the Rosewood Exuma project, with plans to integrate solar energy solutions and eco-friendly building practices.
The floating padel court will be stationed in Miami until May 2025, after which it will relocate to the Bahamas as a premium amenity for guests.
Those interested in securing a booking for the court should act quickly before it embarks on its journey to the Caribbean. However, as a note to prospective players, it’s essential to familiarize oneself with the correct pronunciation of padel before stepping onto the court.
